"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view [...] until you climb into his skin and walk around in it," (Lee, 30).
Our Essential Question
What does it mean to "climb into [someone's] skin and walk around in it"?
Hello and welcome to this site! My name is Kate Llewellyn and this site represents my exploration of Harper Lee's seminal novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, through the lens of the above quote. I seek to understand what it means to inhabit another person's perspective. For me, the word that correlates most closely to this idea is empathy. The following project will wrestle with the concept of empathy: how we can recognize it and where we can find it.
This project was created for Dr. Alan Brown's Education 654 course at Wake Forest University. The multi-genre inquiry model is adapted from L. Simon (2007). To learn more about the multi-genre format, please explore Dr. Tom Romano of Miami University's website.
